Members of local non-profit organization, The Next Step Homeless Services are building two transitional homes to help keep families who are homeless together while they work to get back on their feet.

The organization has been around since May 2002 and works to keep people off the street. Members see anywhere from 120-150 people on a daily basis, who are either homeless or on the cusp of homelessness.

Next Step Homeless Services Executive Director, Kim Wohlford told 40/29 News the organization received a $172,000 grant from HUD last year that they're using to build the homes.
