We've welcomed three new staff members!

We have been extremely busy working through the issues surrounding Gary Hays’ impending retirement in early 2012.  How do you go about replacing a man who has spent the last decade building an organization like ours?

Well, it’s not that easy.  What we can tell you, though, is that we have interviewed numerous individuals who are very interested in the well-being of our clients.  When we describe everything that Gary and his staff have been able to accomplish over the years, you just see amazement on the interviewees' faces.  Gary’s team could not have gotten us to this point without a strong donor base and trusting partners like the United Way, City of Fort Smith and the Veteran's Administration.

What is the result of the recent interviews?  We have been able to bring some awesome people to our agency.  In October, Robert Petty decided to change employers, leaving Vista Health for a case worker position with us.  He is a recent graduate of the Psychology program at UAFS.  We also welcomed two new employees today.  Ms. Becky Young joins the case management team after six years of service with the Western Arkansas Counseling & Guidance Center.

Our other new employee, Ms. Amy Sherrill, joins our agency as Linda Gabriel’s replacement in Community Affairs.  Talk about stepping into big shoes!  She will be taking over all outreach and community awareness projects, including our social media projects.  Many of you might be familiar with her work with the Southwest Times, including articles on mental health issues and homelessness.  These three will join an already wonderful group of case and house managers.

We had a very deep talent pool to choose from – which speaks volumes about how our agency is perceived in the community.  Sure, we saw lots of resumes from folks that were just trying to get any job.  Many of those resumes are earmarked for upcoming housing projects for which their talents would be better suited.  However, we also saw a lot of talented case workers and marketing professionals that were excited with the prospect of being associated with our agency.  It was fun to see so many people interested in the well-being of our clients!

Thanks for supporting this reality!  We really do hope you have a great remainder to the month of November!
